About Vadapalli

Vadapalli is a village in Atreyapuram mandal, on the bank of the Gautami branch of the Godavari. Its Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple is known as Konaseema Tirupati. The deity is worshipped as Kalyana Venkateswara, and the image is made of red sandalwood. Temple tradition holds that it is self-manifested and that the sage Narada consecrated it here.

Saturday is the busiest day. Many devotees vow to visit on seven Saturdays and walk seven rounds of the shrine, believing their wishes will be granted. On Saturdays the temple opens at 4 am, many pilgrims take a dip in the Gautami, and free meals are served in the temple premises. The yearly Kalyanotsavam and temple festival fall on Chaitra Shuddha Ekadasi, in March or April.

Highlights

  1. Darshan of Kalyana Venkateswara, an image made of red sandalwood
  2. The Saturday crowds, early opening and free annadanam meals
  3. A holy dip in the Gautami Godavari, as many pilgrims do
  4. Kalyanotsavam and temple festival on Chaitra Shuddha Ekadasi, March or April
  5. Pootharekulu, Atreyapuram’s paper-thin rice sweet, on the drive from Rajamahendravaram

Good to know

  • Saturdays bring the biggest crowds, and the temple opens at 4 am that day. Come on a weekday for an unhurried darshan.
  • The temple portal says RTC buses run about every half hour from Rajamahendravaram and Ravulapalem. Local autos also go to the temple.
  • Hours can change on festival days. Check with the temple office before you travel: 08855-271888.
